The Rocky Mountain Inn & Hostel Story:

In July 2002, the owners (Erik & Dianne) bought what was then the Byers Peak B&B.

that's us! (back then) ->

Dianne had spent most of her 20's traveling the earth and having been in and out of hostels in about 87 different countries, figured there was a need for one in Winter Park.  (Erik conceded since it was a good excuse to buy tools.)

Then the work really began.

Hey, we even met riding the chutes at Mary Jane.

The Byers Peak B&B only had one floor; the upstairs was basically a giant attic.  So from August 2002 until November 2002, we transformed

Hickory cabinets, porcelain tile, and quality fixtures.Our comfy and inviting lounging area.Upscale dorm rooms are affordable yet pleasant.

Of course, that meant cutting a big hole in a perfectly good roof. July, 2002

And believe it or not, we remained open for business the entire time and had it all done and ready for the 2002 ski season!

The Rocky Mountain Inn & Hostel Now

Now that we've passed our 6th year in business, we're busier than ever, but have maintained the same mantra that we started with -- namely, give guests no reason whatsoever to stay anywhere else.  It's really that simple.  We try to provide the best lodging value we can: Clean, comfortable rooms, a warm environment, and friendly staff.  But we keep it all affordably priced with the added savings of discounted lift tickets, hot springs passes, and ski rental.

We encourage you to stay with us the next time you're in town and join the thousands of other skiers, snowboarders, bikers, travelers, and all-around great guests who have become our friends and loyal customers.

Thank you,

Erik & Dianne Wettersten
