About the Rocky
Mountain Inn & Hostel:
We pride ourselves in giving customers an immaculate and
friendly place to stay which is also an incredible lodging value.
The Rocky Mountain Inn offers two distinctly different styles of accommodations that compliment
each other. We have gorgeous private
rooms on one floor, and affordable dormitory
rooms on another. Our guests tend to be friendly, independent,
and very appreciative of our facility -- often developing lasting
friendships with the staff.

Details about

Part-time staff
You'll be part of a great team of friendly and hard working
staff. As a staff member you'll often find yourself in charge;
enjoying the independence and responsibility of running the day-to-day
operations of the facility.
Full-time staff Requirements:
 |
Self-motivated -- you'll often be working with
little or no
upper management oversight, you'll need good time-management skills,
initiative, and judgment.
|
 |
Friendly -- you'll be interacting with guests both
on the phone and in person. The ability to communicate and make
guests feel welcome is important to us.
|
 |
Flexibility -- Although we try to have a 'regular'
schedule, we are open 24x7 so the job may entail both day and evening
shifts, plus holiday and weekend hours.
|
 |

and inviting; you'll be responsible to help maintain our high standard of
cleanliness.
|
 |
Skills -- You'll need to be comfortable with basic

necessary to have experience with other reservation systems, but you must
be comfortable with computers and financial transactions.
|

Mature & responsible -- You'll often find yourself
opening, closing and making sure that everything is taken care of for our
business. As you gain experience, you'll gain responsibility.
|

telephone, email, reservations, etc. About 60% of the job

involves guest service and desk work.

include reference information from co-workers or previous employers.

Night Manager
The night manager
position is mostly a matter of being available for after-hours assistance
should the need arise. This job is best suited for someone who
has a day-job and does not often feel the need to "go-out" at night.
You'll have your own room onsite at the Rocky Mountain Inn and will find
that most nights will not require any action on your part.
Night Manager Requirements:
 | Late check-ins and walk-ins |
 | Enforcing quite-time (10:00pm -
7:30 am) |
 | Off hours problem resolution. |
 | Off hours telephone coverage. |
 | Morning and evening snow shoveling as needed. |
 | Off hours presence for at least 6-7 days a week --
off nights can be occasionally
arranged. |
 | Off-hours point person for other
issues. |
Night Manager Benefits:
As resident staff, you’ll also be
responsible for taking care of ‘resident tasks’. These tasks are
essentially the same tasks that one would have to do if they were living
anywhere as a caretaker. Examples include:
 | Snow removal in the mornings and as
needed in the evenings. |
 | Spill cleanup – seeing that spills
or other problems get fixed. |
 | Lawn mowing (seasonal, as needed) |
 | Lawn watering (seasonal, as needed) |
 | Trash removal outside of normal
cleaning (i.e., if you notice a trash can full, take care of it) |
 | Dish cleanup (see that dirty dishes
aren’t accumulating) |
 | Dishwasher loading/unloading
outside of normal cleaning (i.e., if you notice a full dishwasher start
it, if the dishes are clean in the dishwasher, unload it.) |
Requirements:
 |
We need a mature, responsible person
for this position.
|
 |
We need only one person -- we do not
have accommodations for a couple.
|
 |
Even though problems are rare, we need
someone with good judgment and people-skills.
|
 |
Since you'll be living onsite, you may
not have a house pet, and our facility is 100% non-smoking.
|
 |
It is anticipated that the amount of
work actually required will vary from 2 hours a week to 12 hours a week.
The average should be less than 5 hours a week of actual work. In
other words, this isn't really a job, it's just a matter of being
available.
|
Please, please be honest with yourself
before applying -- if you're not sure you would be good in this
environment or if you do not have good people-skills, then this probably
won't work.
Next Step:
If you are interested in free lodging in a unique and interesting
environment, and have the lifestyle and maturity that would enable you
handle the occasional after-hours obligation should the need arise, then
drop off a vitae which includes your current employer, (as well as your
previous employers if less then 2 years), as well as your previous
2-year's rental or housing references. You may drop this information
off in person at the Rocky Mountain Inn & Hostel (located at the Stoplight
on Hwy 40 in Fraser).
